Complements C2C Unit: Survival in the Australian Environment
Students catch and release frogs in the vicinity of the centre and down at the ponds. They look at their structural features and hypothesize on how these features assist the animals to survive. They look at behavioural adaptations of nocturnal animals and reproductive /courtship behaviours such as frog calls and pheromones. Students discuss the impact of human activity and changing climates on frog populations, growth and reproduction and the adaptations they possess to meet these challenges.

Students explore the survival mechanisms employed by amphibians in aquatic and terrestrial environments. They use nets to capture and release frogs in the vacinity of the centre looking at how different frogs cope with the different physical conditions that exist in the various microhabitats around the centre
Students investigate the impact of human on frog populations, growth and reproduction.
