Vessels and transportation

Jacobs Well Environmental Education Centre is able to provide transport on a 24-seater bus to off-site study areas.

We own a number of different water craft for use by visiting groups. These range from canoes to our 12-metre powered 'Educat' catamaran.

Our catamaran provides fast and safe access to a wide range of sites and can accommodate up to 49 passengers. Two wooden dories are also available for activities.

Catamaran
The Educat is powered by twin diesel engines and can carry one entire class. It is registered to operate in sheltered waters. It is berthed at the Horizon Shores Marina and we operate between the marina, Jacobs Well, Stradbroke Island and Moreton Bay.

The centre has two 'Dories', very stable powered watercraft capable of carrying up to ten passengers. The dories are used for bird watching and some mangrove studies.

Canoe

The centre has seven canoes. Each canoe is capable of carrying three people. The canoes are used in the Pimpama river and other confined waterways close to Jacobs Well.
